How far do we go to block our blessings?

Over the last few months, I have been doing a lot of “faith” reading. Reading devotionals, meditating and praying. Trying to develop a closer relationship with God.

Sharing this experience with a few people, I have noticed that we as humans, block what we cannot    control. I do understand fearing the unknown, but at the same time, if I am supposed to trust in God’s plan for me, should I really have something to fear? Is there any way to trust God’s guidance and fearing it at the same time? That just doesn’t make sense.

I decided to dig deeper, and do some more reading and soul searching. I came across a reading that really made me sit and think. I came across Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” KJV. If God promises to have my back and guide me in the right direction, what should I fear?

Fear alone led me to realize that we as people tend to have the bad habit of blocking our blessings. Even though we feel that we may be undeserving of what God has to offer us, that doesn’t mean that we should block what HE does for us. We do not know what is ALWAYS best for us. Sometimes we have our OWN plans and timing on how things should be or how we want them to be. And we are stubborn enough to ignore God’s timing by trying to stick to our own.

Life is like a sidewalk. We all have our own individual paths and relationships with God that guides us where we belong. We follow our “yellow brick road” until we reach where we think we should be. Sometimes we stray off of that sidewalk, because we think there is something better on the other side or we’re too busy looking in our review mirror too worried about the past.

BUT Life keeps moving. we reconnect with God, we get back on our sidewalk and we keep on moving forward. Eventually, God will place someone along that path, and that is who you are meant to travel through life with. But what if you aren’t ready? or if HIS timing doesn’t match yours? Then what? Most people would block that blessing. If your side walk connects with someone else’s, how can you tell them to find their own path? They are on their own, and God led them to you. Some of us are too stubborn to follow God’s plan and at times we try to drag the wrong people down our paths. They don’t belong in certain aspects of our lives but out of “love” we try to make it work.

And again, life keeps moving. We go back to making our OWN plans and not following God’s. We make our own rules, while God waits patiently for us to hear HIM. Sometimes we hurt ourselves more when we try to do things our own way. Sometimes what we felt we should do, wasn’t the right thing all along.

God knows that we are deserving of HIS love and HIS many blessings. But it is up to US to receive what HE is giving us. Sometimes we’re afraid of asking God for what we deserve. Asking HIM to guide our paths, light our lives and help us carry our burdens.

Know your worth, keep your faith and Pray!
