Monthly Hair Regimen June 2013

Monthly Hair Regimen June 2013

I have decided to start a month hair regimen update. To keep you up to date on my hair regimen, as it changes through the seasons, and also, hair updates, to keep you up to date on the current state of my hair and what I’m doing to keep it healthy.

Everything will be super candid and honest, whether there is damage, if I’m nursing back to health, videos and photos to go along with the post.

What better way to start with my first Summer time regime from June 2013?

Let’s start

My natural hair regimen is very simple and easy for ME to keep up. You can use this as a reference when building your own. You don’t have to use the same products as I am

These are the products that I have been using for the last few months. I use the transition 1-2-3 and the olive oil infusion by Carol’s Daughter. I also use Curly curl crème, The Mahogany Queen, Mahogany Princess hair butter, The Loving Culture Growth oil and Eco Styler Gel every once in a while on my edges. I also use AnuNaturals lock and seal kit with the vanilla Cupuacu hair lotion.

My Hair Regimen

I wash my hair weekly, using Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner.  I lather ONE time with shampoo, focusing mostly on my scalp and then I use my conditioner.

I deep condition my hair weekly, sometimes twice a week depending on how my hair is doing midweek. I am currently using Barba de caracol and silicon de bamboo (both Dominican Imports), but can be found at your local beauty supply store.

Hot oil treatments: I try to do these once or twice a month. I use AnuNaturals Macadamia Hot Oil Treatment.

Hair Butter: I use Mahogany Queen’s Mahogany Princess butter to seal the moisture in my hair when it is freshly washed. I use this hair butter on SOAKING WET hair.

LOC and Seal Moisture during the week: I use the AnuNaturals Just Water and Just Oil to spritz my hair and seal that moisture in during the week. I also use this spray and oil before I flat twist my hair once it dries. I use the Vanilla Cupuacu Hair lotion after the LOCK and Seal kit.

I tie my hair down with a  satin scarf and bonnet every night. I cowash my hair during the week if I need to. I try to moisturize and seal my hair nightly if possible.

Maintain flat twist

I maintain my flat twist by spritzing them the night before I plan on taking them down and sealing them with an oil. I take my flat twist down by oil them slightly so that they don’t frizz. Moisturizing and sealing at the night before taking out your twist and flat twist help reduce frizz and insures that your hair is dry before you take your hair out so that you aren’t left with a mess.
I am currently using the LOC method.

Mostly two Strand twist

I mostly keep my hair in two strand twist to minimize manipulation. Plus, it’s just a lot easier for me to deal with than doing my hair every few days. I spritz my scalp with a little bit of water and seal the hair with an oil. So far, it prevents my scalp from getting dry and irritated and my hair from drying out.

FYI

This post is an original draft from the NHJ site. This was my current regimen at the time it was written. I will be updating this section of the site monthly! The next post will be the current state of my hair and then my June/July routine!

Wishing you a flawless hair day!
