Taking Time to Enjoy the Little Things

Taking the time out to enjoy simple pleasures seems to be complicated for most people. Time is never of the essence. We fail to realize that we’re too busy because we make ourselves that way.

In fact, if we took time out of our day, to enjoy the little pleasures that God puts on our paths, we would be so much more connected with God and happier.

Yes, I am aware that we “only” have 24 hours in a day and that we sometimes have SOOOO much to do within those hours that it is almost impossible for us to “slow down”. But we have to find that balance between work and taking a moment.

Psalm 118:24 – “This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (NIV) Now I truly do believe in this. If God put basic joys in our lives, flowers for us to smell, clouds for us watch and people in our lives for us to smile with; why should ignore them. Why should we continuously put the simple things off and assume that there will be another day and time?

My Truth
I am always busy. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2 in the morning; If I am up, I am always glued to a computer screen or my laptop. I always have some form of work to do. I am a mother of a two year old boy, a full time college student, I run this site, contribute to another, I EA for DMVixen of DMVixen.com, and in all reality I attempt to have some form of a life. All of this in itself can be VERY overwhelming. BUT I can definitely say that I have learned to give myself a moment. I normally take this time out with my son. We go outside, we look at the sky, we look at the trees and the birds. I leave my phone in the house. I just leave everything behind for that moment. There are a lot more moments that I take like this with him. And I just enjoy my two year old. He brings peace to the chaos that is my life.

I say this to say a few things.

Everyone has a lot on their plate. But we ALSO pick and choose who and what we want to make time for. We can always pencil in 15 minutes to go for a jog, to do yoga, to play with our kids, to spend with our spouse etc. There should be no reason why you can’t stop your busy schedule to enjoy the love and life that happens in your EVERYDAY LIVES. Even the busiest people find the time to spend time with their families.

You don’t have to keep busy 24/7 just to prove that you are committed to your brand and what you are doing. But you do have to take the time out to be human. To live fulfill your life the right way.

Tomorrow doesn’t always come for all people. And we have to be able to live our lives accordingly.
